upsidedown lane sign Unusual use of the Lane allocation warning sign for overtaking lanes. Normally only used on the single lane side to indicate two opposing lanes. At this location it has been used upside down to indicate an overtaking lane begins at a location where is is not as obvious as usual.

abandoned railway crossing Something different. A disued railway crossing a disused road. The Bairnsdale to Orbost railway (which closed in 1987) crossed the present B500 / C620 route a total of 4 times near Bruthen. One over the road, one under the road and two level crossings.

Nowa Nowa Hwy? The Orbost railway formation is now a recreational Rail Trail. Note the sign here advising trail users that they are approaching the "Bruthen - Nowa Nowa Hwy".
